Meeting was called to order at 6:40pm

Reports:

President – No report

1st Vice PresidentWater System

  • Water system good – all wells recently checked
  • DT spoke with PenLight and they agree all is good, but still waiting on backflow testing reports
  • Someone needs to help with water location for calls – KB volunteers

2nd Vice President – Maintenance 

  • DT has reviewed revised landscaping contract – KB to send to Board for final review for March vote
  • Parks in good shape
  • KB getting set up in Strongroom

Secretary – No report

Treasurer – No report

Committee Reports:

Compliance – No report

Events – Easter egg hunt in April

Old Business

  • Assessment overpayments
  • KG to talk to HOACS about sending out assessment overpayment letters
  • New playground equipment
  • Officially paid for – KG to confirm delivery date and installation details
  • KB looked at old equipment and it’s ok to leave up until weather improves
  • Lots 216-217 foreclosure
  • KG to follow up with lawyer about why LOTW liens haven’t been paid

New Business:

  • 2025 budget close-out just arrived

Reports:

President – KG’s roommate’s son is donating trees to LOTWCC

1st Vice PresidentWater System

  • Everything running well
  • Pump House 4’s air compressor didn’t start and had to be fixed, air pump moved
  • Two trees on 136th St Ct have to come down
  • Pea Patch water is on
  • Generator switch company hasn’t responded to DT’s recent email but generator itself is running well

2nd Vice President – Maintenance 

  • Going to rebuild Pete Rix bridge next Sunday
  • DT called trash and it will be picked up tomorrow
  • Landscape needs to get on auto-payment – HOACS will set up
  • KG flagged that blackberry bushes at Pete Rix are creeping into yards – need to be addressed

Secretary

  • No report

Treasurer

  • 1st quarter finances are not looking good – income is down $11K, but only 3% of properties are behind in payments – math doesn’t make sense
  • Could be an HOACS problem
  • Several lines are over budget – legal fees, lien fees, management fees, property taxes
  • Board approves to raise 2026 events budget to $2.5K – MMSP

Committee Reports:

Compliance

  • Lot 251 renter has moved out, owner is fixing up property
  • Renter appears to have moved into a different property in the neighborhood
  • Lot 103 owner has returned – letter #2 to go out
  • Lots 105 and 168 are getting follow-ups
  • Still no volunteers to join the Compliance Committee

Events

  • 40 people took advantage of community cleanup dumpsters
  • Fishing Derby is coming up soon – volunteers needed

New Business:

  • Late summer community cleanup if budget allows? Maybe early September, back-to-school season?
  • Reserve Study – level three annual update has been made and looks good – will be reviewed by May 18
  • All executive board members to be listed and approved on CD accounts – MMSP 
  • Biggest CD – $151K – rolled over 
  • More room in the Pea Patch
  • BDB notes that she has found a grant program people can apply for to cover septic inspection
  • Habitat for Humanity offering grants to help people stay in their homes
  • LH will not be at the June meeting

LOTW Annual FISHING DERBY – MAY 16th – Here is the Latest!

The annual Lake of the Woods Fishing Derby is happening on Saturday, May 16th.  So, fishing in the lake will be closed down from April 30th until after the Fishing Derby is done. This makes sure the kids get a chance at the big one’s too! Adults can go for it after 12:00 o’clock noon.

Fishing Derby Rules

All children MUST be registered! The check-in will be between 8:00 am and 9:00am – This year,
Special Tickets will be given out and must be kept with you. They are for the Raffle Drawing, at 12:30.

Fishing starts at 9:00 am and goes until Noon.
Weigh in Time: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
The Raffle Drawing for Prizes and Derby Awards will go between 12:30pm to 1:00pm.
Lunch: starts at 12:30 pm

RULES:

1.) Only the children can fish during our derby.  Adults get to fish after 12:00 pm.

2.) All participants must keep and bring in the first three (3) fish caught. (Hint: make them the largest fish caught)

3.) Participants must live in the Lake of the Woods Community or be accompanied by a relative or friend who lives in Lake of the Woods Community Club.

4.) All Children must catch their fish.  This is defined as setting the hook and reeling in the fish by him or herself.  An adult may help with casting the line and netting the fish.

If on a boat, please wear your safety vests!!
