You might smell Chlorine tomorrow (Thursday) in our water system. As a preventive measure, we are adding about a cup of chlorine to 75,000 (est.) gallons of water to kill any bacteria. This water is safe to drink and the smell should be gone in a day or two.
The BOARD of Directors for the Lake of the Wood Homeowners (A.K.A. YOU), would like to invite you to send to Karen Gore, our hard working President, your name and phone number.
As I am sure you all are aware, Ed and Dave (our current VP’s) are getting to the point in there life where they would like spend most of their precious time pursuing interests of their choosing. They are not stepping down as VP’s of our Board. But being post 70 year old’s, they have declared that they are not able to “do” the physical side of their duties. When these two giving and hard workers finally turn over their duties to the new people assigned to do the work, (the idea here is that we need 5 people to replace the two we have doing all these required duties) The Board, including Ed & Dave, would like their duties to be evenly distributed among the rest of us. The Board Members are asking all of you to step up and volunteer to do the work.
This act will will insure that our dues remain one of the lowest in Washington. Keep in mind, our monthly dues include the total cost of your water! This is the water you drink and use to keep your yard looking nice, AND all of the background required testing and maintenance of the water delivery system.
If no one steps up, well…..someone has to do do what they have done as a requirement of our HOA Covenants and Restrictions. These duties are what we all agreed to as the homeowners of the HOA when we purchased our homes. So……the Board will have to assign a contractor to do the required future work. I am sure that you can imagine how much a modern licensed and bonded contractor is going to charge us to do required work that Ed and Dave have been doing these past ten years (probably for the past 20 years, but I’m not sure about that) for a minimal cost to the association.
I for one would like my HOA dues to stay at the <$40 per month rate. I know they will go up, if we: all of us, do nothing but say “Let someone else do it” or “Go ahead and hire the contractor.”
Please look into getting involved with the Board. We need 5 new members to be part of the management team for our large community. Call Karen and talk to her about what you, as a new Board member would have to really do.
Hey! If you just want to step-up to help out, call Karen and she will get you in touch with the appropriate Board member. We need people to help clean up old trees that are being taken down in our parks and green belt areas. Contact Ed at 253-884-2713 or Dave at 253-884-9951 if you can help them.
